Multiple “Gods?”

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

Are there multiple “Gods” as this verse implies, or is there only one as Deut. 6:4 states: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one”?

There is only one true God, the Creator of heaven and earth. The Bible teaches that God is Triune by nature. He exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one God in three divine, co-equal Persons. For example, Scripture reveals that Jesus Christ, God the Son, was preexistent before He was manifest in human form: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1,2,14). Jesus said of Himself, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).

For verses mentioning the three Persons of the Trinity, see Matt. 3:16,17; John 14:26; 15:26; 2 Cor. 13:14; Gal. 4:4–6; 1 Pet. 1:2; 1 John 5:7.
