A picture of “repentance toward God…”

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

Esther had the ten sons of Haman hanged. This is a picture of “repentance toward God,” when we rid ourselves of the enemy by putting to death the works of the flesh—the nature received from our father, the devil (see John 8:44; Eph. 2:2).

The works of the flesh are traced to transgression of the Ten Commandments (see 1 John 3:4). The ten sons of Haman (the ten sins of humanity) are rebellion against God, idolatry, blasphemy, Sabbath breaking, dishonoring parents, murder, adultery, theft, lying, and covetousness.

Esther 9:13 Then Esther said, If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Shushan to do again tomorrow according to todays decree, and let Hamans ten sons be hanged on the gallows.

“Why is there suffering?”

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

“In one-on-one witnessing encounters, a common question asked is, ‘Why is there pain and suffering?’ If you have your Bible with you at the time, open to Isaiah 24:5-6, and have the person you’re talking with read it aloud. When he finishes reading, explain that the Bible tells us that because human beings have broken God’s holy Laws, the entire earth is suffering under a curse. You can then redirect the conversation by asking him how many of God’s Laws he thinks he has personally broken.” Anna Jackson

Isaiah 24:5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant.6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men are left.

The Rock

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

To those who fear God, Jesus Christ is the Rock of Salvation, the chief cornerstone upon which everything else is built. But to the proud, He is a rock of offense, a stumbling stone. Truly, blessed are all those who are not offended in Him.

Isaiah 8:14 He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

9/11

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

At times, the power of hunger, thirst, pestilence and plague may not be enough to soften the hard hearts of wicked men. America was brought very low by the horror of 9/11, but it wasn’t long until she crawled her way back into sin. Adversity sometimes makes people look to God, but often they prefer to find solace in sin. So don’t make the mistake of waiting for misfortune to come to the ungodly, thinking that it will give you opportunity to witness. It may harden them or distract them from your words.

Amos 4:6 “Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord.7 “I also withheld rain from you, When there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain…

(Washington, D.C.) — On the eve of the anniversary of the terror attacks of 9/11, President Obama addressed the nation in a prime time televised speech on the threat posed by the Islamic State (aka, ISIS or ISIL) and how his administration plans to respond. Here is a transcript of his remarks. I encourage you to read what he said very carefully.

A brief analysis:

  • The President has now officially acknowledged that ISIS and its jihadist allies pose a clear and present danger to the American people, our…

#Joy

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

Joy in the Bible is the means by which we are sustained in suffering… and joy is that for which suffering is preparing us.” John Piper

“For the Christian, joy is not the absence of suffering and adversity, but the nearness of God in our adversity.” Bob Deffinbaugh

1 Peter 4:13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christs sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

Three threats to America, Israel & the Church in the Mideast. Notes from my address at Moody Bible Institute.

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

MoodyBibleInstitute(Chicago, Illinois) — It was an honor to be on the campus of Moody Bible Institute in downtown Chicago on Monday and Tuesday. At the invitation of Dr. Paul Nyquist, president of MBI, and Dr. Michael Rydelnik, a professor and head of the Jewish Studies Program, I was invited to teach a class on the Holocaust, another class on modern Israeli politics and society, speak on an evening panel on “Israel & The Gaza Conflict,” tape two programs for Moody Radio, and address the student body — some 1,600 future Christian leaders — on Tuesday morning at chapel.

Here are my notes for the addressed I delivered at chapel: “Three Threats Facing America, Israel and the Church in the Middle East.” I hope you find them helpful.

Thank you, Dr. Nyquist. It is an honor to be back here at Moody Bible Institute and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share…

“You are using scare tactics by talking about hell!”

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

In the late 1980s, TV commercials in the U.S. asked, “What goes through the mind of a driver who is not wearing a seat belt in a head-on collision?” Then they showed a crash dummy having its head crushed by a steering wheel in a collision, and said, “The steering wheel!” Those were scare tactics, but no one complained because they were legitimate scare tactics. We should fear what happens in a head-on collision if we are foolish enough to not put on a seat belt.

Fear itself is not a bad thing. Fear stops us from stepping off a 500-foot cliff. It keeps us away from fire. It holds us back from sticking a fork into a live power outlet. These types of fear are self-preserving, but the ultimate self-preserving fear is the fear of the Lord. That fear is called “the beginning of wisdom,” and because of it…

“Epic flip-flop”: Now Rand Paul is trying to deny he’s an isolationist & assert he would be tougher on ISIS than the President. Unbelievable. This is the GOP frontrunner for 2016?

With President Obama floundering on foreign policy and economic issues, and the world seeming to spin out of control amidst the vacuum created by America’s retreat from the world, it is important to understand the leading contenders to replace him in 2016.

One is Sen. Rand Paul, who is widely described as the “frontrunner” for the GOP nomination (see here, here and here) and is doing well in numerous national polls. As reluctant as I am to comment on American partisan politics, I do feel compelled to say that Sen. Paul would be a disastrous choice for President. He is wrong on many vital issues, including being hostile to Israel and clueless on the threat of Radical Islam. But he is also increasingly demonstrating that…

“What’s the difference between lust and sexual desire?”

Ray Comfort's Daily Evidence

There is a difference between lust and sexual desire. God did give us sexual desire and it is not a bad thing. In fact it is a good thing. How else would we be attracted to a prospective spouse, and why would we even procreate if there was no “desire”

So what is the difference between sexual attraction and lust? One dictionary says that “lust” is “uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite; lecherousness.” Or to put it another way, lust is pornography of the mind.

How then do we know the difference between “looking” and lusting? The answer is to listen to your God-given conscience. It will tell you…if you have a mind to listen. There is nothing wrong with simply seeing someone and having the automatic thought that she is attractive. But that is different from then formulating sexual thoughts about that person to lust for her. In…
